Tecnobrega: Lambada on Acid
Tecnobrega (literally Tecnotacky) is, in short, Lambada’s granddaughter for the computer generation! Stemming from Belém do Pará, the old port-capital city of the state of Pará, in the Amazon basin, Tecnobrega’s wild revolution has swept Brazil from north to south over the past decade. Tecnobrega’s simple but hypnotic beat invaded Brazilian dance floors and the media, and is starting to make waves internationally. This home-made, self-produced and independently released music has jump-started a total parallel chain for the local music industry, in which the music is basically given away to the public and artists, DJ’s and promoters cash in on huge ‘Aparelhagem’ (Sound System) 3.000 people parties that happen every weekend all over Belém. Tecnobrega music is completely digitally produced, incorporating samples of all kinds and sources and versions of international hits are made on the fly. The only objective is to have fun, loud electronic fun music! Come meet Tecnobrega on Sonoridade.
This segment includes tracks by: Gaby Amarantos, DJ Waldo Squash, Marlon Branco, DJ Aglison & DJ Iran, Amy Winehouse, Banda Os Karinhas, Gang do Eletro, Madeirito & Jow, and Gaby Amarantos.
