Patricktor4 Mixtape
To celebrate the Carnaval 2016, Sonoridade host and producer Béco Dranoff invites acclaimed Brazilian DJ and producer Patricktor4 to compile a special mixed tape of some of his favorite music emanating from Brazil. The result is an up-to-the-minute survey on the rarest and most cutting edge tracks, with a heavy emphasis on the country’s northeastern region.
A leading DJ and producer, Patricktor4 was born in Bahia and has spent much of his life traveling around the north and northeast regions of Brazil. While there, he absorbed the popular music produced locally, that is today finally getting international recognition.
He deconstructs Brazilian music's ethnic plurality and seeks equivalent trends from around the world: from the northeastern Baião to the Balkan beats of Eastern Europe; African Kuduro to Rio’s Baile Funk; Belém’s Latinized Tecnobrega to Cumbia Digital; Guitarrada amazônica to Caribbean Zouk; Bahia's Afoxé to Nigerian Afrobeat. Extensive research and experimentation with these combinations turns his performances into true tropical blenders, filled with fun, highly danceable music.
