M.Z. Ribalow, Redheaded Blues
In this edition of New River Dramatists, the late and multifaceted writer M.Z. Ribalow reads from his last novel, Redheaded Blues. Blues follows the resilient and ardent Casey Cassidy over several decades as she traverses the United States. Born in the midst of a mass murder (during which her pregnant mother is shot), trouble has followed her since she was in the womb. However, her tenacity, ambition and faith help her get back up whenever she falls down. This picaresque tale captures the American heroine in a uniquely comical and endearing manner, becoming a beautiful coda to Ribalow's long and fruitful career.

RADIO SERIES
A program of stories, plays, and poetry co-produced with New River Dramatists.
New River Dramatists, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, is a not-for-profit project that distinguishes itself in that it is looking for writers to assist, not works to produce. Engaging writers on the strength of their individual talents instead of the potential merit of a single piece, payment of Honoraria to all participants, the absence of casting and the commitment to process first are among many factors that, taken all together, make New River Dramatists unique.
