Gilberto Gil Tribute
Sonoridade host and producer Béco Dranoff dedicated one program to Caetano Veloso in celebration of his 70th birthday. As promised, this show is dedicated to Mr. Gilberto Gil, who also turned 70 in 2012. Caetano and Gil are part of the amazing group of pillars of MPB (M˙sica Popular Brasileira) and have introduced powerful changes in Brazilian music and culture from the late '60s through today. Gilberto Gilís music runs the gamut from Bossa Nova, Psychedelic, Tropic·lia, MPB, Ballads, Samba, Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Pop, Reggae, Rock, ForrÛ, Jazz, Electronic and all their possible re-combinations. From being exiled to becoming Brazil's Minister of Culture, Gil has seen and done it all. This program is but a small sampler of some favorite recordings and highlights from this musical genius, who still brings modernity to Brazil. Parabéns Gil!!
