Fiction: And Introducing… Lucia Coppola & Elyena de Goguel

A program of prose vignettes, four short prose pieces by Lucia Coppola, excerpts from Talking With Trees (Rocks, The Bridge, Roses, North) read by Cynthia Adler, followed by 21 by Elyena de Goguel, read by Hanna Cheek.

Lucia Coppola is originally from New York City but moved to France after graduating from Swarthmore College. She has worked as a dancer and choreographer in France where she has also coached actors on movement and participated in numerous choreographic projects for children in the public schools. She is currently teaching English and writing. Her writing is the result of her thoughts on being an American woman, former dancer with a family, and living by the forest in the outskirts of Paris today.

At 22, Elyena de Goguel is taking her first precarious steps into the professional world of writing. Her passion for language and the art of storytelling solidified throughout her 4 years at Ithaca College, with internships in both the writing department at Jim Henson Company and with the Ithaca Times features section. As yet she regards herself less a writer than a sponge, absorbing knowledge and growing in skill. She observes. She listens. Then, she writes.

RADIO SERIES

A program of stories, plays, and poetry co-produced with New River Dramatists.

New River Dramatists, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, is a not-for-profit project that distinguishes itself in that it is looking for writers to assist, not works to produce. Engaging writers on the strength of their individual talents instead of the potential merit of a single piece, payment of Honoraria to all participants, the absence of casting and the commitment to process first are among many factors that, taken all together, make New River Dramatists unique.
