Dumas, Liberovskaya, Hirsch

A recording session shared between New York City based Shelley Hirsch and Canadian artists Katherine Liberovskaya and Chantal Dumas. Entitled, "9-9-18", Liberovskaya (live video), Dumas (field recordings, laptop), and Hirsch (voice, words) bring together fragments of life, scenes, stories, compositions, sounds and images come together and apart as they form a series of ever-changing fleeting audio-visual worlds. The improvisational session was recorded in December 2011 by Experimental Intermedia.

Shelley Hirsch is an experimental performer, singer, and composer who has collaborated with many international artists. She is the recipient of numerous awards, grants, fellowships and residencies including 4 from NYFA; a Creative Capital grant; the prestigious DAAD residency in Berlin; The Ucross/Alpert residency Prize; 2 NEA grants and a record 5 Artist In Residencies from Harvestworks Studio PASS.

Katherine Liberovskaya is a media and video artist from Montreal. She is also heavily involved in media programing, she has planned projects with programming and organization of diverse media art events, notably with Studio XX in Montreal (programming coordinator 1996-1998, president 2001-2003), Espace Vidéographe, Montreal and Experimental Intermedia, NY (Screen Compositions 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) as well as the OptoSonic Tea series with Ursula Scherrer at Diapason in NYC.

Chantal Dumas is a sound artist, also based out of Montreal. Her work has been broadcast on local and international radio stations. She has received numerous grants and received awards for her 1997 collection of sound novellas Le parfum des femmes and her 2001 “radio roadmovie” Le petit homme dans l’oreille. Her most recent work, Dans la pâleur des jours gris, was broadcast by SFB in Berlin.
