Antonio Carlos Jobim Birthday Tribute Show
This February show is entirely dedicated to Mr. Antonio Carlos Jobim - the great composer, arranger, singer and pianist who was the writing force behind the bossa nova movement that changed Brazilian music forever. Tom Jobim was born in Rio on January 25th, 1927 and died in New York City on December 8th, 1994 – leaving behind a huge musical legacy with hundreds of compositions. Through the years his songs became international standards recorded by such names as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Horn, Diana Krall, Astrud Gilberto, George Michael, Barbara Streisand, João Gilberto, Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson and many more.
This segment features musicians Miles Davis, Gil Evans, Paula & Jaques Morelenbaum, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Milton Nascimento, The Postmarks, Fábio Caramuru, Everything But The Girl, Oscar Peterson, and many others.
