Yasmil Raymond: Carl Andre, Sculpture as Place
Dia Curator Yasmil Raymond drops by Clocktower Radio to discuss the exhibition Carl Andre: Sculpture as Place 1958-2010, co-curated by Dia Director Philippe Vergne, and on view at the Dia Foundation in Beacon, New York through March 2, 2015.
Raymond and Corwin explore Andre's contentious relationship with Marcel Duchamp's ready-mades. The pair also discuss the amazing room of ephemera, postcards, and Dada Forgeries pieces (including high-heeled shoes and loaves of bread) housed in the basement at Dia Beacon. Raymond talks about her work with Kara Walker and addresses the question of whether Andre really is retired from sculpture.
