William M. Voelkle

William M. Voelkle, Curator Department Head of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts at The Morgan Library, sits down with Will to discuss the End of Days. He doesn't believe a word of it--he's bewildered by the apocalyptic frenzy that grips the world seemingly every other week. Still, Will's never met a guy who seems to have watched every single crazy, conspiratorial History Channel documentary about hidden Bible codes and mummy's curses and the like--is it really just research? More importantly, though: this is a particular psychosis that people have felt they need to draw and paint. We focus in on the many of the works featured in the exhibition Apocalypse Then: Medieval Illuminations from the Morgan, which Bill curated in 2007 (29 minutes).
