Tuvan Throat-Singing
Kazue Kobata encounters two representatives of Tuvan throat-singing, Japanese-style. This particular type of throat singing is called homei, a variation used mostly for the performance of epic poetry. The sound is primitive, with no mystical roots and although there are only two singers in this performance, you may hear a third which comes from the sound produced by the mutual interference of the two voices. The first piece performed is called Encounter II and is accompanied by a type of Mongolian harp. Listen in and enjoy!
