Torsten P. Bruch

Walking down Houston Street, Will Corwin heard the dulcet tones of 1960's
German lounge music. Turns out it was the after-party for a German
artists' collective from Hamburg, performing their work in the
community garden Le Petit Versailles. Torsten Bruch is one of the
directors of the Kunstlerhaus Frise, in Hamburg, and he fills us in on
the Hamburg art scene, and the nature of established artists'
collectives, which are far more common in Europe than over here in the
States. Lastly, he informs us that much of central Hamburg has been
overrun by hundreds of artists who have taken over abandoned buildings. Vive
