The Trends in Art Book Publishing
A discussion with Deborah Aaronson of Phaidon, Todd Bradway of David Zwirner Books, Patricia Fidler from Yale University Press, Lisa Pearson of Siglio Press, and Mark Polizzotti of The Metropolitan Museum along with artist/organizer Arezoo Moseni. This panel, recorded February 10, 2015, delves into the current and future trends in art book publishing and investigates the circumstances required to make an art book both groundbreaking and life-changing. The panel also tackles the myriad of possibilities advancing art book publishing in the commercial and academic marketplaces.
Deborah Aaronson is Vice President, Group Publisher at Phaidon, based in the company’s NYC offices. As Group Publisher, she is responsible for expanding Phaidon’s Art, Photography, Fashion, and Children’s publishing programs, as well as overseeing the design and production departments.
Todd Bradway, Director of Publishing (New York), joined the gallery in early 2014 to run the newly formed David Zwirner Books. He has been in the publishing industry for close to twenty years, and has spent the majority of his career at D.A.P. | Artbook.com.
Patricia Fidler has been at Yale University Press for 14 years, serving as Publisher for Art & Architecture since 2011. She manages a department of 10 people, including editorial and production staff, acquires titles, and oversees 23 exclusive museum publishing partnerships.
Arezoo Moseni is an artist. Her work has been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions at major venues in the United States and abroad such as FIAC 2014, and it is held in numerous public and private collections including the Brooklyn Museum, Bibliotheque nationale de France, Mead Gallery and Musee de La Photographie.
Lisa Pearson is the founder and publisher of Siglio Press, an independent press in Los Angeles dedicated to publishing uncommon books that resist categorization and live at the intersection of art and literature.
Mark Polizzotti directs the publications program at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
