Sultry Summer Grooving

Summer releases landing In the Hopper for 2014. Amazing albums from Sorceress, Mr Scruff, See-I and Quantic. In addition, super tunes from Brownout doing all Black Sabbath cover tunes entitled Brown Sabbath on a Carlos Santana tip, William Onyeabor, musical icon that disappeared and who Luakabop unearthed and compiled an amazing collection of lost gems released in 2013, and now for 2014 the collection gets the remix treatment. Headphones suggested for maximum enjoyment and to entice you to go venture to hear more from these artists and others featured in this edition.

And some more thoughts and details from Jeannie on this playlist:

Enjoy selections from amazing up and coming album and compilation releases for 2014. Fires up with two samplings from two of Brooklyn's long standing groovy labels, Nickodemus' Wonderwheel Recordings featuring their newly signed artist Sorceress, and DJ DRM's Bastard Jazz Records featuring their latest single from The Elder Statesman entitled Montreux Sunrise. Mr. Scruff is back with a full length excursion on Ninja Tunes entitled "Friendly Bacteria" and here enjoy Feel Free. Grooving along into some Brazilian loveliness as the World Cup captures the masses from Worldwide's Gilles Peterson a new collection entitled "Brasil Bam Bam Bam" giving you all a lil' taste to quench your thirst with Where Nana Hides by Sonzeira featuring Nana Vasconcelos & Sean Kuti on into the ever lovely Six Degrees latest Brazilian flavors on the remix tip you'll hear Bossa Cuca Nova's Balança (Não Pode Parar!) remixed by Adam Popowitz on the Brazil Vol. 2 collection.

Luaka Bop follows up on the stellar 2013 release of original tunes from William Onyeabor releasing this time around a collection of remixes. Nylon Trax latest single from Michel Navedo entitled Se Encate gets a remix treatment from Jaymz Nylon, the creatives behind the label. Enjoy some fun cover tunes with Flunk's rendition of Blue Monday and Ubiquity records artist Brownout doing all Black Sabbath cover tunes entitled Brown Sabbath. You'll hear their rendition of Planet Caravan. Think Carlos Santana does Black Sabbath vibe. And closing out the show Quantic's latest full length feels so right for summer listening with the title track Magnetica and lastly Deadmau5's latest Seeya, sounding very Daft Punk, circa 2013, influenced.
