Sue Bourne and Julia O’Rourke, Jig

Who knew Irish step dancing was a minefield of international competition? Sue Bourne’s documentary, Jig takes the 40th Irish Dancing World Championships, held in Glasgow in March 2010, and dissects several key categories as for the first time ever competitive Irish Dancing allowed access. Host Stephen Schaefer sits down with director Sue Bourne and Julia O’Rourke, the dancer featured in the documentary, to discuss the film. O'Rourke from Long Island, at ten, faces her most formidable foe in British rival Brogan who was schooled at Derry, Ireland’s famed McConomy School. As young as she is, Julia is amazing.
