Stephen Trask, Hedwig and the Angry Inch
Jeannie Hopper talks with Hedwig and the Angry Inch composer/lyricist/co-creator Stephen Trask on the occasion of Tits of Clay (the off-stage alter ego of the band performing as the Angry Inch in the 2014 Broadway production of the show) returning to the site of the show's genesis, world famous Don Hill's. The club and scene inspired Trask and John Cameron Mitchell to create Hedwig in a tribute to legendary booker, promoter and club owner Don Hill. Hopper and Trask discuss the party Squeezebox and the fabulous cast of characters from Sherry Vine and Mistress Formica to Deborah Harry and Joey Ramone and the many many others who graced this punk and drag scene. This is a tale inspired by the unbridled fun and fabulousness brewed from the unique ingredients of organic New York nightlife culture that sparked the Tony Award-winning Broadway extravaganza.
About the benefit and celebration event, Celebrating Don Hill: A Night of Live Music in Support of Road Recovery:

Proceeds go to Road to Recovery, an organization that reaches at-risk teens through rock music. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at The Hills in lower Manhattan.
