Stephanie Sigman, Miss Bala

2011 New York Film Festival Special: At 24, Mexican actress Stephanie Sigman’s star-making film debut in the thriller Miss Bala presents her as Laura, a kidnapped beauty queen contestant whose ordeal is told primarily through her eyes. Cast from a shampoo commercial by festival favorite, writer-director Gerardo Naranjo, a breathless Sigman was interviewed at Lincoln Center’s Bunin Film Café just after she had arrived from a press tour in Tokyo.
