Sofi Oksanen & Zishan Ugurlu, The Purge



Pete McCabe interviews the Finnish-Estonian playwright, novelist and activist Sofi Oksanen, author of The Purge (via satellite from Tallin, Estonia), Zishan Ugurlu, the Artistic Director and founder of Actors without Borders--International Theater of New York, an ensemble based resident theater company at La Mama, and Isabelle Deconinck, press agent for their upcoming collaboration, the U.S. premier of The Purge (February 11-20, 2011). The three talk about various aspects of The Purge, including the process and inspirations behind this production, and the hows and whys of it being also written as a novel by Ms. Oksanen. We hear about the history of Actors without Borders, and their plans for this production and for their future.
