Shift Soora: Music of Iran (1940s-50s)
Music rescued by artist Michael Fabian from old vinyl recordings, probably from the 1940s and 1950s. A soora (or sura) is any of the 114 chapters or sections of the Quran. In researching this music we ran across these astonishing mystic graphic images generated by indexing verses and sections of the Quran.
The record includes the tunes Del Beykna, Shahar Sookoot, Hashim Hargis, Azadah, and Hayada.
