Shannon Lee Hayden, Strings & Atmosphere

Alec Bemis hosts virtuoso cello player, Shannon Hayden, whose work breaks free of the classical mold and incorporates electronics, amplification and atmosphere for a haunting new sound. Bemis also features modern independent musicians using classical instruments in newfangled ways (Lo-Fang, Jozef Van Wissem, Ebe Oke), some of Shannon's early influences (Bjork, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, Jefferson Airplane) and peers such as Exitmusic and Big Robot.

Hayden graduated from the Yale School of Music in 2011 and she is primarily based out of Chicago.

This session was recorded at Red Bull Studios in New York in partnership with Clocktower Radio.
