Sarita Choudruy, A Hologram for the King

London-born Sarita Choudhury, known for her work in Showtime's popular series Homeland, plays a Saudi Arabian surgeon in Tom Tykwer's A Hologram for the King, an adaptation of the Dave Eggers' novel that world premiered at the 15th Tribeca Film Festival in 2016. The film tells the story of an American salesman (played by Tom Hanks) who visits Saudi Arabia to sell a holographic teleconferencing system with the hopes of saving his failing career, but finds an unlikely romantic connection with Choudhury's Zahra instead.

In this interview, Choudhury tells how growing up with an English mother and Bengali Indian father continues to influence her career and what exactly those “chemistry readings” before being cast are like.
