Ruben Östlund & Johannes Bah Kuhnke, Force Majeure

Sweden’s entry for an Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language feature category is writer-director Ruben Östlund’s twisty, blackly comic dissection of a family whose identity unravels when an avalanche disrupts their high priced ski vacation in the French Alps. As the troubled husband and father, photogenic Johannes Bah Kuhnke makes a memorable screen debut. For Östlund, his fourth feature has won an international audience, having been sold (so far) to 45 countries following its prize winning Cannes premiere last May.
