Rooney Mara, Carol
Rooney Mara is the winner of 2015's Cannes Best Actress award for her performance opposite Cate Blanchett in the 50's lesbian romance, Carol. In the movie, Mara plays the young Christmas store clerk and aspiring photographer, Therese, utterly smitten by the older, alluring, and married Carol (Blanchett). In this interview at the Essex House in Manhattan, Mara talks about why she first rejected the role of Therese, why she was not at Cannes to accept her award in person, and why she is happy keeping a low profile-- except when she is doing a press junket.
