Psychedelia
Another edition of the Clocktower's art radio news magazine in a fifteen-minute survey.
Psychedelia: The very word conjures images of rock posters, tie-dye, and the music of bands like the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane. Yet psychedelia extends beyond expected tropes and critical institutions are re-evaluating the influence of psychedelic artwork.
This segment features conversations with art critic Ken Johnson, artists Deborah Kass and Chris Martin, Alastair Gordon, author of Spaced Out: Radical Environments of the Psychedelic Sixties, Croatian curator and art historian Branko Franceschi, light artist Joshua White, Cameron Stallones of the band Sun Araw, and artist Fred Tomaselli.
Culture Clock is a radio series investigating and illuminating the contemporary art world and its artists, institutions and communities.
