Peter Kowald & Damon Smith, Mirrors



Improvised pieces for two acoustic basses performed by the late, legendary, powerful, and influential Peter Kowald from Wuppertal, Germany and Oaklander Damon Smith, who was inspired after hearing Kowald to transition from freestyle BMX bikes and punk bands to free improv. Recorded in April and May of 2000 in Oakland.

Many of the segments were assembled for the former radio station of P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center (now MoMA/PS1) between 2004 and 2006.
