Patricia Clarkson, Learning to Drive

The movie was nine years in the making, but Patricia Clarkson knew that her role in Learning to Drive would be worth the wait. The Oscar- and Tony-nominated, Emmy-winning actress discusses the long road to completion for a movie she knew, sight-unseen, she had to be a part of.

Learning to Drive is directed by Isabel Coixet and written by Sarah Kernochan, based on a 2002 New Yorker article by Katha Pollitt. Clarkson stars as Wendy, a successful New York editor who begins to take driving lessons with instructor Darwan (Sir Ben Kingsley) after the breakup of her marriage forces her to become more self-sufficient. The film was named first-runner up for the People's Choice Award at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival and was released on August 21, 2015.
