Nickodemus of Wonderwheel Recordings
Nickodemus has a resume to envy. After holding down residencies at Giant Step and Organic Grooves, he teamed up with DJ partner Mariano in 1998 to create Turntables on the Hudson and a series of compilation cds under the same name that capture the vibe and include some of Nickodemus' own productions. Wonderwheel Recordings (after the Coney Island thrill ride), mixes electronic samples with gypsy music from Eastern Europe, North Africa and southern Italy and Sicily. "Coney Island Love," the first Wonderwheel compilation, was released in November, 2004.
Nickodemus' sound is like a traveling circus that gets everyone's hips & feet moving! It will stop off in the Middle East & Africa, over to Brazil, Colombia & the Caribbean, up to New Orleans & landing in his hometown, Brooklyn NYC!
