Mio Soul, Subliminal Melody

DJ Shakey hosts New York-based, Tokyo-raised singer/songwriter/producer, Mio Soul, in preparation for the release of Subliminal Melody on March 18, 2014. Over the course of a year, what began as a weekly, 30 minute personal beat making challenge, grew into the hand picked set of full length productions that comprise Subliminal Melody. Soul discusses her work and tracks from her album are demoed.

Mio Soul channels her inner cosmos through traditional R&B, Blues, Soul and Dance Music, to share her downtempo, chill-out and ambient instrumentals. She is a graduate of DubSpot in NYC and has worked with Maria Davis, Golden Era Hip Hop Legend Chip Fu (of the Fu-Schnickens), internationally acclaimed producer DJ Gomi, Japanese singer/songwriter Kiyotaka, The Japan Society, MeccaGodZilla, ATS of the Rocksteady Crew and many more. She has also performed at SOB's, B.B. Kings, Village Underground and a multitude of other venues known for soul music in NYC.

This session was recorded at Red Bull Studios New York in February 2014.
