Michelle Bogre, Photography as Activism: Images for Social Change

Jeannie Hopper discusses photojournalism and activism with photo educator, documentary photographer, writer, and copyright lawyer Michelle Bogre, Associate Professor in the School of Art, Media and Society at Parsons The New School. Bogre's 2011 book, Photography as Activism, seeks to motivate students to use the medium to expose issues and bring about change.

See also Jeannie's companion piece on this subject with Jonathan Torgovnik, photojournalist and activist. Michelle found Jonathan through mediastorm.com and a story he did on Rwandan rape victims who became pregnant and then chose to give birth. He was inspired to create Foundation Rwanda to provide education, support, and awareness for mothers and children of the genocide era.
