Meringue Diplomacy: Terri Hanlon & David Behrman



The experimental video documentary Meringue Diplomacy tells the story of Antonin Carême, the eccentric and innovative chef, food sculptor, and founder of French grande cuisine, who lived from 1783-1833. David Weinstein talks with the filmmaker Terri Hanlon and the composer David Behrman and plays some excerpts from the soundtrack. The film premieres at the French Institute Alliance Française at 55 East 59th Street on April 13, 2011 with a benefit preview as part of the Umami Food and Art Festival at the Astor Center for Food and Wine on March 28, 2011.

The soundtrack features music by David Behrman, Jacques Bekaert, Barbara Held, John King with the ETHEL String Quartet, Laetitia Sonami, Maria Ludovici and Jon Gibson. The cast features Eric Barsness, Jacques Bekaert, Carol Clements, Laetitia Sonami, and Joe Hannan.
