Marva Griffin Wilshire, Saloni

Host Caresse Lansberg hosts Marva Griffin Wilshire (Born in El Callao Venezuela lives in Milan since 1971) who has been awarded the 2014 Premio Compasso d'Oro alla Carriera, the oldest and most coveted prize given in the world of design.

This program is executed entirely in Spanish.

For 16 years now, Venezuelan-born Marva Griffin Wilshire has been pushing open the door and inviting her promising young charges to step through it. The showcase fair SaloneSatellite, which she founded and curates, runs alongside the world-famous Milan furniture fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile. Her event receives applications from recent design graduates as far as Macedonia and the United Arab Emirates, and it commands the attention of the key players in the industry.

SaloneSatellite — and by extension, Griffin Wilshire — has been credited by many now-established designers as having been their passport to success; both have become trusted barometers of the state of design now and in the future. Generous with her time as well as her contact book, Griffin Wilshire is also a member of the design and architecture committee for the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
