Mart Crowley, Crayton Robey, Making the Boys

Mart Crowley’s groundbreaking gay drama The Boys in the Band, which opened off Broadway in 1968, and the 1970 film version directed by William Friedkin bridged the before-and-after of the modern Gay Liberation movement. Crowley’s pivotal work--acclaimed, derided, and then acclaimed--and his celebrity-studded life is the focus of Crayton Robey’s incisive documentary, Making the Boys.
