Marilyn Minter

Will goes on location to Marilyn Minter's SoHo studio to talk to the painter about her life and art. She relives a pivotal early meeting with Diane Arbus that really wasn't that pivotal, a brief interlude on the Williamsburg art scene and quite a bit of talk on painting methods. Marilyn talks candidly about the pitfalls of using pornography as subject matter, but in the end gives a refreshing and unexpected answer about working with Pamela Anderson (29 minutes).

Marilyn Minter

On a dreary day, when the Soho streets were filled with floating rats and soggy trash, Zefrey Throwell had the chance to sneak up to Marilyn Minter’s cozy studio and chat with her for a bit about Green Pink Caviar, her recent show at Salon 94. They traverse a terrific range of conversational turf, from the difference between being turned on to being seduced, to billboards and videos in Times Square, to the hot white light of success and how not to deal with it, to the age old policy of No Smiling Before Christmas. Listen along, and make sure to check out the trailer for her new video, also titled Green Pink Caviar (34 minutes).
