Maria Jose Arjona. Tell Me a Story Because I Can't Sleep

Host Julia Draganovic speaks with performance artist Maria Jose Arjona about her 2011 project, Tell Me a Story Because I Can't Sleep, a performance art installation that uses a new method of story telling to create an experience that, unlike most things today, doesn't need technology to exist.

In collaboration with No Longer Empty, the artistic organization responsible for filling empty property in New York City with exhibitions, Arjona has materialized the personal stories submitted by hundreds of people into physical tapes that create the structure of the installation. In this interview she discusses the process of collecting those stories, as well as the difference between the documentation of an event within a database and the experience of an event within a memory.
