Lynn Shelton, Humpday
A breakthrough hit at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, Humpday is filmmaker Lynn Shelton's hilarious, poignant and incisive third feature. The wry comedy traces the relationship of two straight male college friends who, now in their 30s and not having seen each other for several years, celebrate their reunion by entering a homemade porn movie contest. Shelton discusses how she went from editor to writer/director and reveals how she conceived the film to work with actor/filmmaker Mark Duplass' decision to play the film's more conventional Ben to Joshua Leonard's free-spirited Andrew (25 minutes).
