Lucia Puenzo, XXY

Argentine writer-director Lucia Puenzo makes her feature debut with an unusual coming of age tale XXY, adapted from a short story by Argentine writer Sergio Bizzio. Puenzo discusses why she made a movie about a hermaphrodite, winning the Cannes Film Festival Critics Week's coveted Grand Prize and growing up in the business as the daughter of prominent Argentine director Luis Puenzo whose The Official Story remains a landmark in contemporary South American cinema. Just 31, Lucia Puenzo had published three novels and made shorts and documentary films before her feature film debut.
