London Essentials: May 2011

Phil Stocker's May 2011 selections include the top five art galleries participating in the current city-wide celebration known as First Thursdays, a monthly event that combines art galleries, beer drinking on curbs, and lively art discussions in Shoreditch and Hackney. Also, the fantasy drama They Came To a City by J.B. Priestley is a new production of a 1944 play running at the Southwark Playhouse. Plus he exposes a unique theater experience where the audience is blindfolded and subjected to different sounds and smells--like a radio broadcast with extra benefits--and is introduced to a motley group of characters in Earlsfield.
