As writer-director of the Swedish import Simon and the Oaks, Lisa Ohlin explains the issues she faced adapting an “unfilmable” novel, finding the right boys for young Simon and his friend Isaac, casting Stellan Skarsgard’s less famous son Bill as the adult Simon and why Hamburg became a production site (money!).
