Liam Gillick
Will Corwin sits down with Liam Gillick at the Clocktower to discuss a recipe for creating public art that is neither grandiose, kitschy, nor dismissive of the public; the responsibilities of the contemporary curator; and the joys of lying face down on the floor. This conversation is part of an ongoing project to talk with British artists from the late 80's and 90's, some of whom consider themselves YBA's, some that don't. Liam doesn't. He did go to grammar school with Corwin's former boss Richard Patterson though, and Richard's brother Simon (you can hear Simon's interview in this archive as well). Gillick has an exhibition at Casey Kaplan during May 2012, and at the Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College during summer 2012, entitled From 199A to 199B.
