Kevin F. Mason is a Brooklyn-based middle school music teacher and radio producer at BBOX Radio. He holds a Master’s degree in Musicology from the University of Miami and completed his PhD coursework in Ethnomusicology at the University of British Columbia. On his weekly radio program Lakou Kèv, he explores Haitian history through LPs, cassettes, mp3s, and live performances of the country’s expansive songbook.

Mason is a frequent visitor to Haiti and loves exploring the Port-au-Prince neighborhoods of Carrefour-Feuilles, Canapé-Vert, and Pacot, searching for new music, meeting good people, and drinking cold Prestige beers with the chemizèt at the ti sourit.
