Kerry Washington & Diahann Carroll, Tyler Perry presents Peeples

While it’s called Tyler Perry presents Peeples, the dysfunctional family comedy actually is written and directed by Tina Gordon Chism and stars Kerry Washington as the daddy-dominated Peeples daughter Grace with Diahann Carroll in a small role as her grandmother. Those who might see a circle being completed here – Carroll after all was the first African American actress to star in a network show, the 1968-71 Julia, and after a 40 year break Washington makes history as she headlines the red-hot network soap, Scandal – should know that Peeples filmed two years ago, before Washington was even approached about the series that has made her a household name. So the circle is closed in this comedy but it’s entirely kismet. In these two interviews, the women reflect on image, history, acting and living.
