Kentler International Drawing Space
Florence Neal, co-founder and Director of Kentler International Drawing Space, the Red Hook gallery dedicated to showing drawings and works on paper since 1990, tells the tale of her neighborhood, artists, medium, and, of course, the hurricane. Neal, an accomplished artist, is a wealth of information on the history and development of this fascinating part of Brooklyn with its maritime history, colorful characters, triumphs and tragedies.
This conversation with Clocktower Radio's David Weinstein took place on the eve of a silent auction and Benefit for Kentler on May 17, 2014 with over 130 works on paper by an impressive list of established and emerging artists. The event is also honoring Clocktower's Alanna Heiss and Dustin Yellin of Pioneer Works, both operating out of Red Hook. There is also a Memorial Tribute to Martha Beck, Founder of the Drawing Center.
