Kawabata Makoto, Acid Mothers Temple
Kawabata Makoto, leader of Acid Mothers Temple from Japan, spoke with host Elliot Stapleton before his show at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, NY on April 12, 2011. Makoto is the guiding light behind Acid Mothers Temple and has released countless records of trippy psychedelic-infused jams. In this interview he talks about how Acid Mothers began, the difference between Japanese audiences and Western audiences, and states that in his eyes he is simply playing "old school rock n' roll." He also tells the story of how Acid Mothers Temple cranked up and destroyed Terry Riley's In C before Riley's very eyes. Tune in.
