Katie Holten, Linea
Right on the heels of her exhibition Linea with Mariateresa Sartori (curated by Kathy Battista), Katie Holten talks to Corwin about her artistic meanderings, literally and figuratively. Will was lucky to be one of the few to accompany Holten on one of her "walks", a vital part of Linea, in which the artist walked through New York to the gallery with such luminaries as Dan Graham and Ellen Harvey. Navigating cities and the environment are half of Holten’s practice, while the other involves the creation of public artworks such as Tree Museum on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx in 2009 and Light and Landscape at The Storm King Art Center in 2012. Holten also creates drawings, two of which are on view at Cheymore Gallery in the exhibition Prophetic Diagrams II (through December 19, 2014).
