Just One More

Christopher Kardambikis continues his survey of contemporary DIY publishing with contributors from the magazine Selfish. Writers Jenn Northington, Alys Velazquez, Taylor Yates and Megan Bealer read their original work from the young publication's second issue, set for release in July 2015.

Jenn Northington has worked in books since 2004 as a bookseller and events planner. She's also the co-founder of the Bookrageous podcast and is a freelance writer and reviewer.

Alys Velazquez is a Brooklyn-based writer focusing on poetry and short prose. She is currently the poetry editor for Selfish. She spends much of her time on both sides of the bar, haunting used bookstores, and photographing her breakfast.

Taylor Yates is in the process of untethering from Los Angeles and preparing for her next adventure. With a pen in one hand and a donut in the other, she is diligently editing and assembling issue two of Selfish.

Megan Bealer is a poet and prose writer. She has written for college magazines and literary magazines. She has just received her Associate's Degree in Liberal Studies and hopes her artwork will take her in a new direction.

RADIO SERIES

Paper Cuts is an exploration of the contemporary world of zines and DIY publishing. Hosted by Christopher Kardambikis, each program features writers, performers, and artists who have shared their work in print, on paper, and in small editions. Zines are truly dynamic publications that have built and supported engaged communities around ideals, experiences, genres, music, politics, poetry…anything that can be printed, shared, and/or mailed. The series will act as a cross section of this varied landscape and rich history. Listen to voices that would normally live in your hands and demand your eyeballs.
