Joseph Silovsky, Puppets 2.0
Host Pete McCabe interviews puppeteer Joseph Silovsky who discusses his work in progress Send for the Million Men for the 2013 edition of CULTUREMART, as part of his Artistic Residency at the HERE Arts Center.
Silovsky discusses his use of robotics, gaming technology, multiple projection surfaces, and interactive dioramas to communicate his telling of the story of Sacco and Vanzetti, their trial, execution and the global reaction to it. He also explains why this story has drawn his interest for over 20 years, and other aspects of his work.
Send for the Million Men will be performed as part of the CULTUREMART Festival of works in progress, on February 6-7, 2013 on a double bill with The Pigeoning by Robin Frohardt (also interviewed on ARTonAIR.org) at the HERE Arts Center in New York.
