John Sayles, Go for Sisters

John Sayles', 'godfather' of American independent cinema, continues to go his own way in his new film Go For Sisters. This beautifully crafted thriller tells the story of an African American parole officer (LisaGay Hamilton searching for her missing son in Mexico with the help of a recovering drug addict (Yolanda Ross) and a disbarred cop (Edward James Olmos). Sayles dives deep into his character's minds and societal roles as they move through a disturbing underworld.

Sayles, a director, screenwriter, actor, and author, is known for his ambitious, ensemble (Lone Star, 1996, Matewan, 1897) and counterculture films (Return of the Secaucus 7, 1979, Lianna, 1983). His films reflect his deep interest in humanity and interpersonal relationships, as he's said: "My main interest is making films about people...I'm not interested in cinematic art."
