Joe Wright, Hanna

With adaptations of two prestigious literary works, Pride and Prejudice (‘05) and Atonement (’07) Britain’s Joe Wright established himself as a filmmaker of uncommon grace and ambition. Hanna, a thrilling chase drama with its 16 year old heroine (Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, Oscar nominated at 12 for Atonement) on the run from Finland to Morocco and finally Berlin is something completely different. With an elemental plot that could be lifted from a movie starring The Rock, Wright shows what smarts, style and a score by the Chemical Brothers can do to escapist material.
