Joanna Malinowska, A Hawk from a Handsaw
Joanna Malinowska and host Corwin discuss her 2013 exhibition at Canada Gallery, A Hawk from A Handsaw, which included five tons of dirt from the Yukon territory and a 20 ft papier-maché statue vaguely resembling Smoky the Bear.
Malinowska has been fascinated by Native American culture since her childhood in Gdansk, Poland, and tells the very touching story of an Inuit performer, Arctic Elvis, aka Jimmy Ekho (decked out in sealskin Elvis outfit and whalebone sunglasses) who she worked with on a video project.
