Jen Goma, People Get Ready & A Sunny Day in Glasgow

This episode was co-curated by series creator Alec Hanley Bemis and People Get Ready bandmates Jen Goma and James Rickman. Goma also joined Alec in the studio as co-host, and their conversation touched upon the Brooklyn and Philly music scenes, whether long band names are a thing, and how music can “sound expensive.”

The tunes range from the happy to the forlorn, with a number of songs that seem to encompass both of those emotions at the same time. Artists include Dolly Parton, Cat LeBon, The Blue Nile, Allie X, Luke Temple, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Teen, Little Wings, and almost half-dozen contributions from Jen’s various projects. This includes her contributions to recent albums by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, A Sunny Day in Glasgow, and People Get Ready, a New York-based band/performance group whose music is released on Bemis’s Brassland label.
