Irving Sandler & Phong Bui
Influential art critic and educator, Irving Sandler, interviews Phong Bui, the artist, writer, curator, and mastermind behind The Brooklyn Rail onsite during his Come Together: Surviving Sandy exhibition at Brooklyn's Industry City (Oct.-Dec. 2013). Sandler asks about the show, the Brooklyn Rail project, who the real Phong Bui is, and how he became the man we know today. Phong Bui has a complex and fascinating history involving international travels, abandoning a "scholarly life," his childhood, family, and experience immigrating to the US from Vietnam. The discussion took place before a live audience.
